because they said the other girl wasn't preety enough i never heard such garbage what about you what are your thoughts..............nice to meet everyone i'm new here as of tonight.
I think it's sad for both girls - the one who was told her voice wasn't good enough and so was told to just mouth the words, and the other who was told her face wasn't pretty enough so she'd have to do the singing from behind the curtain. So at the tender ages that these girls are they have already been taught that nothing counts but beauty; and this at the Olympics where we're supposed to be celebrating skill and talent and strength and working towards a goal - everything BUT superficial beauty!!!
I am new to this site, too. I think it is terrible to both the sweet little girls. Having grown up as not one of the "beautiful people" I can relate to the ever so talented singer. I hope she has people around her who love her and tell her that looks are superficial and will fade. Her talent should be her focus. She is more beautiful that she knows. The other little girl may beleft with the idea that her looks will get her whatever she wants. This too is wrong. Real goals need to be persued.
Personally, I think the girl that actually sang the song is quite cute. I hope she does not go through life thinking that she has to be beautiful to get anywhere. Talent outweighs beauty in my book.
wow thats right beauty always tv magazines weight its all the same poor teens under so much pressure too to fit in and look right my daughters starting 7th grade next week i can see and feel her stress already..........sure we went shopping at the mall of america on vacation but i want her to conserate on her school work not her clothes and be bullied by others if she doent have the same gym shoes or shirt they all have...............crazy world thanks all for your response susie

It is sad that the world still worries more about what is on the outside rather than the inside. It won't change unless people stand up and say they are tired of it. I hope that the little girl who actually sang the song will be recognized out of all of this. She deserves it...after all it was her beautiful voice and talent.
As a Chinese (but not from China, I'm from Malaysia), I can safely tell u the Chinese don't see a problem with this not because they're evil, but because it's no big deal.
I dare say the girl who sang (who wasn't cute enough) isn't bothered by it and the girl who lip-synced is probably oblivious to the fact that she is cuter. It's the grownups who see what's what and grownups who get bothered by it.
We are brought up very differently in Asia. We do what makes our families proud, be it singing the national anthem or pretending to sing it, it's all the same. Seriously, both girls probably feel immensely proud to be apart of the Olympics and will feel they've done their duty to their families and their country.
Well if that's what the rumor is....sometimes people in the media are so desperate for a story/paycheck, they'll make anything up to create a mountain out of a mole hill. Its up to everyone else as a society to stop the rumors from spreading and let people be. Who knows if that's even the reason for the "lip sync" I mean c'mon, as if NO ONE lip syncs in the U.S.?!?
I'm with Jennifer Tai on this one. And I would like to add: If BOTH girls are proud of their participation, who are we to take that away from either of them?!? Let them be and let them live their life however it makes them happiest.
I found it very sad - what a statement China is sending their girls - beauty is all. Very, very sad. The real girl behind the voice was quite cute and her voice was exceptional. Shame on them.
