My name is Jenn Burleton and I work with an organization that provides education, advocacy and support services to families with children who do not conform to gender identity or gender expression stereotypes.

The truth of the matter is that these children and youth are not confused about their gender. They know how they feel about their unique gender identity and they know how they feel most comfortable expressing it. The fact that many adults are not comfortable with their self-expression or may not be able to understand how the children and youth feel does not, by extension, mean that the children themselves are confused.
