Thank goodness for morning sickness! We were not supposed to be able to get pregnant. I guess my upset stomach reminded me of my previous pregnancies and I took the test just in case - I must have known, because I didn't feel as surprised as I thought I would be when I saw the positive and very happy results.
With my first son I didn't think I really was pregnant. So on a whim (after I just got my hair dyed) My girl friend and I bought a HPT..... Was I shocked and excited to see a positive response! I called my mother and ran into about 3 or 4 really good friends so my poor husband was about the 6 th person to find out! When he came home from work> He never lets me forget it either. So with my next 3 pregnancies he was always the first to know!LOL
I had been trying for 2 years and was starting to get a bit desperate. I felt sick but honestly thought I was wasting my time AGAIN but the test said positive so I went to the store bawling my head off and bought another one. I'm sure to this day the people at the store behind me in line and the check out lady must've thought I was crazy since I cried the entire time I was in line, I had the stick with the positive sign in one hand and another test in the other hand and literally ran out of the store to get back home and do it again because I was just sure it was wrong. Thank God it was right and my little miracle arrived a month early on the floor of my bathroom as perfect as she could be.
The second time we tried to conceive was much harder than the first surprise. After 3 years and two surgeries I was beginning to think that it was not what was in my life plan. Right before our week long cruise to St. Thomas we had been trying. A friend and I took our kids to Busch Gardens for the day and I took a test before we left to be sure, since there was a new roller coaster I wanted to try. It was a great day we rode all the roller coasters and rides not fit for pregnant women. Four days later the second test was positive I was stunned at what I thought I had done to this poor child and after all that time trying. Of course I was pregnant we were set to go on a cruise. Roller coaster baby is living up to his name he has up and downs constantly and he loves to go fast, upside down and sideways. He was very busy before he was born and after his arrival! It showed me that if it was meant to be then it will happen. Timing is not everything.
I said "Honey come Here". He stumbles into the bathroom early that morning cause I couldn't wait to pee. Never been so excited to pee in my life. I asked him "Is that two pink lines in the window"? He casually said in his sleepiest, uninterested voice "Yah". I said OK. Then I screamed and woke him up as I was screaming that "We're Pregnant, we're pregnant"..
So much for stomach crunches lol
When I found out I was pregnant I was finding out I was pregnant WITH TWINS. I thought I was going to pass out and the first words out of my mouth were "how are we ever going to pay for college?" Not the most heart wrenching but definitely the first thing that came to my mind.
Disbelief.

My husband was out of town for his dad's surgery. I thought he would call, but he had his sister call me and I couldn't call him because they'd been at the hospital all day.

I woke up every hour during the night and rechecked the stick. Still pregnant.

When I got up in the morning to go to work the stick had faded which I interpreted as "If you're not going to believe me the first 10 times why should I bother?"

I picked him up at the airport the next day and blurted out "I'm pregnant!" in the parking structure.

He said, "Great. Did I get any mail?"
thank god im not just getting fat! then i asked myself can i raise this child on my own.
I yelled at the doctor. I told her she was lying. I told her to redo the test. There was no way in the universe I could be pregnant...

Of course, this was my 5th child. I had been experiencing severe bleeding and other issues related to my 4th pregnancy. My daughter was born in December of 2005, and from that point until December of 2006, I was bleeding heavily - had been through an IUD, oral birth control, a DNC, and several other treatments and procedures to stop the bleeding. It was finally decided in December that they'd be preforming a partial hysterectomy (they'd leave the ovaries) to cure the problem. My husband and I were both devastated, we both felt like we were still waiting for one more little angel to join our family - but obviously, this new baby wasn't to come through me.

My surgery was scheduled for January 2007. I showed up at the hospital routinely to have my blood taken, my pre-surgery labs done, all the steps vital for the surgery that day. We were both there, tired from being up all night, I was cranky from not being able to eat for 12 hours, but we had emotionally prepared ourselves for the fact that we were not to have any more children.

I was supposed to be taken back for surgery around 9 AM. 10 rolled by and they still hadn't come to start my IV. I was getting frustrated and upset - get this overwith already! When finally, the doctor appeared in the doorway.

"I'm sorry, but we won't be preforming a hysterectomy today. Your uterus is in use." Was this her attempt at being funny?

I swore she must be joking. This was a cruel joke. I cried. I told her she was lying. I told her to redo the test. I told her to do it again.

"You are pregnant, and you are about 3 weeks along according to the hormone levels. We need to do an ultrasound, and get you into your Parinatologist right away, with the amount of bleeding....."

I didn't hear another word she said. I was shaking. In disbelief. About three hours later, I couldn't stop smiling. My husband was completely beside himself.

Alison was born on the 4th of July, 7 weeks early, and 100% healthy. The strange thing is, this pregnancy was completely curative. My bleeding issues and scar tissue resolved themselves. To be on the safe side, however, two months later, I had an endometrial ablation and tubal ligation. We've never looked back.

(Early Oct, 1999) I've always been regular with my period, so after 1 week late, I bought an EPT! I rushed home called my best friend and went to the bathroom. As I was about to start, my fiance - now Husband called and I three way called him. Instantly, as the urine hit the EPT the lines showed up. I sat there repeating, "OH MY GOD!" MY Best friend screamed and my husband started to cry! I stayed baffled! My best friend, congratulate us and hung up. My husband and I were planning on telling EVERYone that we were getting married over the holidays, instead we told everyone that a millennium baby was on its way! That baby is turning 9 in 4 weeks!
My husband and I thought we were pregnant for about a week before I made my appointment to see my doctor. Being young (21), we were kind of scared, but very excited about the idea of adding an addition to our family. After deciding we REALLY hoped we were pregnant, and couldn't wait for the doctor's appointment, we ran out to Wal-Mart to buy a AHPT.

The night before I took the test, I must have read the instructions 20 times. As we all know, it says your first 'pee' of the day is the most likely to yield a more accurate response, so I laid out the stick so it would be ready first thing in the morning. Then, at 3:30am in the morning, I woke up, needing to pee. So, as I walked to the bathroom, I decided I would pee on the stick! I waited the 2 minutes, which seemed like a ETERNITY, and saw that indeed, I was pregnant. I smiled to myself, and cried happy tears for about 10 minutes before leaving the bathroom.

Then, at 3:45am, I told my husband "You're going to be a Daddy!" We hugged each other and cried for about 10 minutes. Then we tried to go back to sleep, after 2 hours it became clear this wasn't going to happen, so we went out for a very early breakfast to celebrate our baby!
