Do you let your teen date?

Our 14 yr. old son does "date" a girl, but I think it is more of the idea of dating. I mean, they are boyfriend and girlfriend, yet they don't go anywhere together after school hours or on the weekend. They do talk on the phone and attend school dances together, but that is about it. When he was "dating" his last girlfriend, they did do a little more. I dropped them off at a movie theater one time and she did come over to the house to hang out or for his birthday.
