I would suggest a different approach. The economy might be tough on some but many are still living it up. What is the area you want to work like? Are there nice neighborhoods close enough? I don't follow the book “Secret", but I do believe we attract what we think. If you think poor economy then you will attract small money. If you believe in yourself, then shine that belief for others to see and you will attract the right clientele. Think big and big will happen. The key is perseverance and positive thought at all times. The second you think down thought--- find something to push you forward. Before you start, decide what it is that will push you when you are down. Write it down; write it down many times. That is as important as any business plan. Almost all stories that you hear of someone succeeding, at one point they almost failed. Think BIG!

hi J i have started a jewelry business where as i am making bracelets,necklaces etc during my spare time and will be starting soon to sell them online & at our local craft table next to our neighborhood grocery store i set up a table 3 days a week n work online soon too! what ever you decide to do, make it something that you enjoy & please beware of sending money to anyone or giving your imfo out ,the economy is bringing out so many theifs ,so do be careful!! good luck J

Hi, My name is Vikki. I also decided to start my own business so that I could work from home and be with my kids. I was a busy Real Estate agent making a really good income but felt that my kids often had to come second after my work. This was very difficult for me and I decided there must be something better. I searched and searched until I found a business that just made complete sense for me. I found a company called Melaleuca. I don't actually sell the products so I don't need to take orders, deal with taking people's money or carry any stock. All I do is refer people to the company and help them set up their whole sale membership accounts and then they buy directly from the company.
One of the reasons it makes so much sense is that I am helping to raise awareness of the dangers of the toxic products that we use everyday in our homes. I feel so good knowing that I have removed all the toxins from my home and that my kids are so much safer for it. The products Melaleuca manufactures are safer, better and less expensive per usage than the products people are already buying anyway.

I work at home but I don't have to do it alone. I have the support and training of a great team.

Hi there,

I can completely relate to you. First, the Secret and the power of positive thinking...I totally agree with that statement. If you ask for it (and if you are specific) it will come to fruition. That's why it's so important to write out your goals every year. 95% of people who jot down their goals and who review them, usually hit them. Only 5% of the population writes out their goals. That's why only 5% of the population is wealthy!

As for opportunities, I know plenty of Mom's who have gone the multi-level marketing route and who have been able to bring in a decent income. Some have even brought in very good money. It's a GREAT option, specifically for stay at home moms and people who need flexibility. I think finding a product you are passionate about is the most important thing. People will only buy or sign up with you only if you believe in the product yourself.

There are 2 companies that I really like. I am involved in 1 as a consumer and 1 as a distributor. The MLM I signed up with has not launched and will launch later this year. I started a small business for myself. I make all kinds of baby stuff. Maybe you should take up some kind of creative class so you can make your business from there.

J,

Have you started your own home based business yet? I just want to share a couple of things that I had to learn the hard way so that you don't have to go broke trying to "get back home" with your baby. #1. There is no "job" more important than being a mommy! It is also very difficult and non glorifying in the eyes of the public. YOU, however already know this or you wouldn't even have the desire to go home.
In the HBB world only 3% of the businesses make it and the rest who are not successful go on to complain and blame others for their lack of success and training.
In looking for a business to start at home there are some very important factors to consider that will lead to your success...especially in today's economy.
PRODUCT- it needs to be Exclusive AND CONSUMABLE...in other words...things that people use already so that you are exasperating or adding stress to your budget or theirs.
IS the company financially sound?? Or do they owe a ton of people money (these are public records). You don't want all of your hard work to suddenly be flushed down the toilet because of irresposible spending on someone elses part.
Then there is the HASSLE FACTOR! Some companies you have to spend so much money on product that you have to STOCK, SELL, DELIVER and then turn around and do the paperwork. (I hate paper work)...which could lead to collecting checks that bounce or customers suddenly not answering the door when you are looking for payment.
I tell you this because I have been there. It is no fun.
Training and support are a huge factor too! It should be a team effort and there should be someone there to guide you and mentor you along the way to your success.
Now that being said, think about what YOU and your family use on a daily basis? What if you could find a "store" that carried everything that you are already spending money on just to function, ONLY less expensive, Safer for you and especially your Precious little one(s). Everything you use only better!
Your business is YOURs but it shouldn't be about YOU if you want to be successful you will have to want it just as much for someone else as you do yourself. Patience and Kindness will reward you with residual and ongoing income!
