I agree with you one hundred percent. They were talking about how much LA is having to pay for everything and it's outrageous. I understand that people want to mourn his death but it the memorial was a little extreme.
I have had a few rough months because of these IOUs that the state is sending out and it bothers me that while so many people and programs get put on hold other things (such as a lavish memorial & everything that has to go along with it) gets paid for.
Here is an article about what cost the city of Los Angeles wants taxpayers to help pay. They said that they had to uses about 3,000 officers to help with crowd and traffic control and paid for lunch for them also. So they are asking fans to donate money to help pay for the salaries of the officers who were assigned to work the memorial.
