also, splurge on a cleaning lady, at least at first and have a friend or family member organize a dinner drop off schedule where everyone can cook a meal and drop off...on the porch so you don't have to be dressed or look presentable.

Swaddlers! They are great for keeping newborns from crying...makes them feel like they are back in the womb.

OH, I just thought of another thing new moms must have....a co sleeper...... so you don't have to get out of bed to check your little one, or be able to nurse right there in bed, or just take a peak at your little love!

Oh yes and a good stroller! :-) You really need to be able to get out of the house... you have no idea the good it can do you (and the baby or babies, as the case may be! :-p)

it was impossible for me one day didn't make much difference gained maybe a pound have now restarted my diet again.
How are you defining "big families" for the purpose of your study? In some respect that's all relative, as some people consider 4 kids to be a big family and others not till there are 8 kids, or somewhere in between.
