Why do we do this to each other? ML blogger Julie says its driving her to an eating disorder.

Momlogic blogger Julie never worried about her appearance until she started to work in an office of women. All the talk about their flaws and diets made her self-concious for the first time. Was she too heavy? Did she not measure up to the others? Do we put our weight under a microscope and lose sight of the bigger picture?

Two months ago Christian Momlogic started a Healthy Living group. Our goal was total encouragement. It's healthy living in a holistic way -- from eating to exercising to faith to living the best life.

But Julie's post, Co-Workers are Giving Me An Eating Disorder, made me stop. Yes, we are doing it right in our group, but what about me? What about the times I've complained when I've had a few pounds to lose? Rather than just take action so that I could live a long, healthy life, I sometimes focused on my midsection or the way my clothes fit or just plain griped about it. Never thinking about the effect on other women or worse, on my own girls. According to this momblogger, this isn't a great habit. So thanks, Julie. You made one momlogic woman think it through and those words won't come out anymore. I'll eat healthy. I'll exercise. But I'll do it because I want to live my best life, and I'll watch what I say.

What about you? Why do you think we do this to each other? It is our culture? Do we do it without thinking? What do we gain when we focus on the exterior so much that it brings others down?

This is so true, why do we have to judge each other, is it because we are not happy with ourselves or do we have to because it is put in our heads by others that women have to be perfect all the time, we can not walk out of the house without having to look perfect because if we do people are going to be looking at us and making fun, If you weigh over 110 pounds you are over weigh why does it have to be this way, it is killing may women because they develop eating disorders because they have to be perfect and they have to make everyone happy, well i have figured this out so here goes this is for all of the women that read this, be happy with yourselves and everyone else does not matter the way i see it is that if you are happy with yourself nothing else matters. If person would think this way it would be a better world, This is my thoughts and i hope it makes since to all of the readers and i hope it helps out someone because i use to be anorexic and I had to change my thoughts because I almost killed myself because of what other people thought of me so please love yourself and be safe because the the ones that matter don't mind and the ones that mind don't matter, this is one of my favorite sayings and it has helped me and i know it will help someone else out there.

I think women struggle with this each and every day. If women, in general, would spend more time wondering how they can make the world a better place- we would all be sooo much better off! Look at our media; that sure doesn't help in regards to this topic. Having had to learn how to walk again at the age of 40 and wondering IF I ever would- this Mom has changed her tune to judging anyone! Not going there, as life is too short!

I completely agree with you Sara. It is very important for women to spend more time figuring out how they can make the world a better place to stay in. Great thought. Thanks!

I feel that we all on to hard onourselves about our weight, and i am a bad one I see alot of women and then I look at myself ,and wish that I could be has thin has others. I think we all can learn from each other and suport eachother when we feel that we are having a hard time with the way we look.

This is so true! I think women are harder on other women then they should be. Most men are not sitting around talking about how each other can l weight and critiqing each others body. Men dont sit around and talk about each other behind each others back and look at on another with discuss because they are different.

Its so sad that woman feel the need to judge another woman. We all have our bad days,we all need to lose weight and no one is perfect!
Be yourself and be strong and remember we are all beautiful!
