Hello, I'm a newbie to this group. I'm a freelance writer, I have written everything from health and nutrition articles to poetry to children’s stories and activity pages.

i just joined the group....i am writing educational adventure audio stories through the different systems in the body. The first is in the digestive system and we just recorded the second in the immune system! Accompanying workbooks to re - inforce the learning are also in the works. Check out the healthy kids section on my site, www.drheathernd.com.

I co-wrote it with one of my fellow journal editors. It's about POD, self-publishing, vanity publishing, trade publishing, etc. Mostly about the jargon, definitions and how to decide the route you want to take. Hope it's helpful. :)

No MS yet so, you should check out self-publishing with Sharon...she's involved and may wish to be helpful. Selling at speaking engagements is a great bet - probably the best bet for selling. Remember! You can read your book onto a CD and sell that at lectures too! Make copies, make your own labels, put 'em in cases = package at home...and, for books - You can print-on-demand and not have to put-out a bunch of money for too-many books and warehouse paper for the vanity publisher. If I'm helpful, I'm glad. I'm old and many people have helped me...it's my turn.

Hi Ellen, Have had been really busy. Sorry it has taken so long to respond. MS is not complete. It is a self -help book I guess is the best description. I would like to self publish through Xulon. I have been doing a lot of speaking engagements and I wnat my materials there to sell. Also I think that what I have to offer is timely and could sell well. Thank you for your dedication to help others.

I did check out ASJA's website, and one of my goals for this year is apply for membership. I have to do some more writing in order to become current due to the fact that the majority of my writings are over five years old.

Self-publishing puts promotion in the authopr's hands...best thing I can suggest is to visit as many book shops as possible - offer a book signing ...not easy - but maybe you can get then to buy or take books on consignment...and get your book up on Amazon.com...offer to do as many free lectures as possible...Believe it or not, major publishers do not give much publicity either and I had to hire a publicist for four of my books.
