I am new to the MLC community and after being part of other mommy communities have found MLC to be the most active and supportive. I am originally from the North Shore and now live in the Merrimack Valley.
Do any of you know of any low priced or free events happening around the area this coming summer? I have a 4 year old and an 8 month old so needs to be fun for everyone! and of course I also have a hubby and you know there has to be stuff for him too!
Hi Kate! It's great to see you here. I have to agree. MLC is incredibly active and a wonderful community. Thanks so much for posting this. I have a soon to be 4-year old as well, and would love to hear about fun activities around town, too.
Have you checked out the stuff that Lowell does over the summer? They've got a kids' concert series, as well as a general music series. There's also the Folk Festival at the end of July. Also, I LOVE the Mill and Canal Tour through the National Park there. You get to ride on the trolley, take a boat ride through the locks and visit the mills. It's educational and fun. If it's not still free, it's probably pretty inexpensive.
And, of course, one of my favorite inexpensive things to do is go berry picking at one of the local farms. We favor Parlee in Tyngsboro, but there are a half dozen or so in the area.
Lastly, if you haven't been to the Discovery Museums in Acton, you must. Your local library may have free passes (love the library passes!). The Children's Museum there is perfect for a four year old and there are some cushy spaces for babies, too.
Hi Kate, welcome! MorethanMommy already left an excellent reply and I'll just add that Lowell definitely offers a lot of amazing cultural opportunities.
I do weekly picks at BostonMamas.com re: local events and I definitely make picks in Greater Boston (sometimes even up to southern NH etc... you'll see posts come through the feed.
