David went to church with the girls and I this morning. This is not something he does often since he seems to schedule 3rd shift security jobs on Saturdays. Going to church is not something he has always done; it’s only been in the past couple of years that he’s gone with us. Anyway, on the way, David complaining about VBS starting on Father’s day and how it’s an inconvenience to him and so on. VBS starting on Father’s Day is nothing new, except for the fact this is the first year he hasn't been working. During prayer time they ask all VBS workers to come forward, so I went, when I sat back down he apologized for what he said on the way to church. He said he knows they need me there and he was being selfish. I hadn’t really seen it that way but it was nice for him to be more understanding.
At the end of our services there is always an invitation for this or that, sometimes just a prayer for someone dealing with this or that other times, something you can do. Today’s invitation was something for the men/fathers, that if they wanted to be more Christian like to come forward. David went forward!!! I almost cried. This is such a big step for him! After the service he stayed back for a moment to talk with our associate minister; there has been a bond forming between them for a little while now. They both play guitars and have wanted to get together. I guess they are going to try for next month or some time. I’d love to be a fly on the wall to hear what they talk about. I didn’t ask him what more they talked about except making plans, but K told me at VBS that he enjoyed talking with David this morning. I also didn’t say anything to David about going forward but that was more because the girls were around and I thought it was something we should talk about more in private.
Thanks for listening and letting me share this wonderful news. God is doing such great work in David!! I can only pray that more happens.
