A few months back my 11yo daughter started jokingly calling me "lady" when she would be joking around with me. She would say things like "Okay, lady, you're going to be sorry if you tickle me!" One day I told her she needed to watch saying that because when we were around people, they would think she was being disrespectful the way she was saying it. We knew she wasn't serious, but it didn't sound too very respectful. We started discussing it and laughing about the way she does it. She got tickled and what she said didn't come out right, but we still joke about what she said, and probably will for years. She said "I call you Lady when I'm pretending to be mad at you, but I call you Mommy when I love you!" She meant that she calls me Mommy when she isn't pretending to be mad at me, but it didn't come out that way. I jokingly jumped on the band wagon with what she had said and had her doing all kinds of explaining that she loves me all the time, but what she meant was........ It was hilarious. You had to have been there to really appreciate it. Now if I tell her something she doesn't like, she tells me that she is going to stop calling me Mommy and start calling me Lady! We get a good chuckle about it every time. It really lightens the mood.

The first time I heard my baby (Hanna now 9) belly laugh was in J C Penny home store when her daddy surprised her by jumping out from behind a rack and saying boo. She laughed for the first time and it was the most beautiful sound! We continued making complete fools of ourselves by running around the store, jumping out from behind racks and chasing daddy just to hear her laugh over and over again! We were so totally absorbed in our baby and hearing her laugh that we have no idea who was watching or who we may have bothered at the time. It is one of my favorite memories!

Everytime my six year old knows she's in trouble, she tells me she loves me....it's hard to be upset after that.

My sweetest moment has been when both of my kids could say I love you for the first time!

So many memories to choose from! Very recently my family and I were at a friend's parent's house down the shore for a birthday party. It happened to be very hot for a Spring day and all the kids were playing in a blow-up pool. My eldest, 5 1/2, was playing so nicely with some older boys but the day was winding down and my youngest were getting tired. Anticipating twin meltdowns, I found myself in such a nice place instead. At one point while sitting on a plastic chair under a big tree, my twin daughter (just 3) having missed her nap for the first time ever lay in my lap falling asleep as her twin brother calmly combed my hair. I just sat there in the cool shade chatting with some friends thinking, even though much of the time my life is filled with chaos and yelling, breaking up fights and chasing after three preschoolers - it is and always will be so worth it and I would never want my life any other way. Those moments keep you going.
