A very very good friend of mine, my matron-of-honor, showed up at my parents house the morning of my wedding very early. She is such an amazing woman of God. She had brought with her a little plastic tub, which she filled with water. She literally washed my feet that morning - just as they used to do in times when Jesus lived. Talk about a lesson in servanthood and humility. I had been her maid-of-honor the year before and I certainly hadn't thought to wash her feet. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
Because of her example I went into that day seeking to serve others and with my mind on God - not on myself as it had been for weeks prior. This amazing lady is still one of my very closest friends. I turn to her often for counsel and hopefully I return at least a small portion of what she's given to me.
What a gift she gave me on my wedding day - one with eternal significance.
