Real Stories. Real Advice. Real Moms.

Breezesmom gave some great answers to the questions posed for the intro and Chapter 1. We have some insightful women around here!

I can’t wait to hear the rest of your thoughts on where this book is leading you.

On to the next chapters . . .

One concept that really touched me in these chapters was the issue of loneliness. As someone who has struggled my entire life to fit in with my family, my coworkers and yes—even at church, I know what a dark place that can sometimes be. It has often been during those times that I’ve reflected on women as a whole and wondered why it is that we allow “labels” to isolate ourselves from one another when clearly—we need each other. Caryn does a great job of busting these myths!

Even though I love, love, love being a mom—it is by far the most wonderful, generous blessing I’ve ever received—I know that God has another purpose for me as well. As I strive to live each day in His will and to serve His purposes, it is wonderful to realize that I am not alone on this path. Other moms are right there with me!

What are you learning about yourself in these chapters?

1. In what ways does the “mom label” fit you best? In what ways does your real identity vary from the traditional “mom definition”?

2. Is there a part of your identity that has benefited your children by your holding on to it?

3. Has God ever revealed Himself to you in a unique way? Explain.

4. Why do you think God goes to such great lengths to make himself known? What does that tell you about the importance of revealing yourself to others?

5. Which part of the body of Christ do you see yourself as? Why?

6. Have you ever “brazenly stepped out” of a stereotype in the name of Jesus? Details!

I’ll be checking in and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on these next chapters. In a couple of weeks, I’ll post more questions on Chapters 5, 6 and 7. Until then . . .

Have a blessed two weeks,

Laura

I love the role of mom, but still see layers of Suzie. I don't want to lose that. I think I raised strong girls who have a real sense of who they are, who want motherhood (one day), but who aren't afraid to be themselves. I think they saw me as mom, but as they got older they also saw me as a human being with distinct dreams, hopes, silly and serious mannerisms and traits.

I brazenly step out of stereotypes on almost a daily basis. I don't want to be seen as an author. Or a speaker. Or a woman in ministry. I just want to be Suzie running after what I love.

Everyone does it, right? We diss on our best buds, tell tales out of school. When we're asked to keep a secret, we cross our hearts, hope to die . . . Instead we spill our guts. I've always been a social animal. In the human jungle, gossip i...
