Real Stories. Real Advice. Real Moms.

1. I loved the picture of a mobile library. Gretchen is leading a camel loaded down with books for the African children. What are unusual ways we can use books to minister to others?

2. Kyle was trying to find the balance between a pursuit of money and a his calling in life? Can you think of a time you struggled in the same way? Explain.

3. Okay, it's a funny book and yet I'm asking tough questions. But isn't it okay just to read a book for the laughs? Why or why not?

4. If you were to give this book a star rating (1 is bad, 5 is good), what would you give it?

5. Share one story or thought from the book that really caught your attention.

1. Unusual ways? How about a book like this in an unbelievers stocking!
2. Yes. We are unemployed currently. My husband was laid off in December. In November, he was offered a job that was too close to move, but to far away. We chose God, Family & then work. If we had chosen that job, then he would probably still be there, but the other two elements would have suffered. Please God reveal your plan to us.
3. Laughter in books, oh yeah! What makes you laugh means you can relate from some of your own and others life experience. Great Medicine.
4. Four Stars
5. several, But when the true identity of Bouillon Betty was revealed-that was the mystery in the story!

I agree with ShaRhonda - giving a book like this in some unbeliever's stocking or even a believer that is struggling.
Oh yeah! Mine was when I had to decide between school work and the Lord. I finally realized my calling is in the choir and if work interferes with that then I need to figure out a different job or career.
I wouldn't see why reading a book just for the laughs would be a problem. Sometimes we just need a stress reliever and a funny book can be just the ticket.
I would give this book about 3 1/2 stars.
I loved watching Gretchen and Kyle grow as a couple and the compromises they made so they could be together.

1. I love that in many countries the Bible and other Christian literature is used to teach people the English language. This is in countries that may not let you in as a "missionary" but will let you in as a "teacher" of their children. Absolutely amazing opportunities!

2. My husband recently took a job closer to home that allows him more time with his family and time for participating in church activities but resulted in a 40% cut in pay. THAT was hard, believe me. But it makes him happy and that is more important than the extra money we might have otherwise.

3. Confession: While reading this book and following a bit of the discussion I kept thinking, "How are people getting so much deep stuff out of this?? I'm just enjoying reading it and chuckling out loud in parts!" I felt very shallow. But, sure, why can't I read for the pure enjoyment of it? Isn't THAT "getting something out of it?"

4. 3.5

5. I really liked the "quirkiness" of his writing. It made me laugh.

I read the book pretty quickly and finished it about 4-6 weeks ago. I admit that I haven't been on the computer much, and as such, have not participated in the discussions about "Tango". I found the book entertaining enough, liked the issue of Kevin dealing w/what his priorities should be-I think this is something we all deal w/at one time or another (or many times) in our lives. Rating this book-I'd give it a 3, however I would be open to reading at least one more book written by Blackston.
