Hi All,
I grew up in Fort Collins, lived in Denver for the last 5 years. We just moved to Colorado Springs a couple months ago! I have my own work from home business that has been the biggest blessing to my family!
Nice to "meet" all of you!

Hi there!! I'm a new blog mom from Southern Colorado! (Pueblo)

While we've "lived" in Pueblo for about seven years, my husband and I have spent the last 4 years as over the road truck drivers! Although, I'm 'moving' back in June to get ready for Nursing School!

But I look forward to being part of this group and meeting new mom's from the area!

Hi! I am a mother of two grown children with children of their own. I have 9 grand-children. I am currently blogging at Babasfarmlife about our 1888 Victorian Stone Farmhouse remodel and restoration. Colorado native born in Loveland, lived 23 years in the Colorado Springs area where we raised our children and now live in South East Colorado on our small farm with chickens and goats. Love the country life!

Nice to meet you, Marianne! I have a 5-year-old son with autism too. We switched districts at the beginning of this school year - he and his twin sister are in Kindergarten. The preschool they were in last year was outstanding, but the regular grades offered very little for our son. We could not be more pleased with how the new school accommodated our son. He's in a half day of regular, mainstream kindergarten with a full-time aide, and he spends the other half of his day in therapies. He's doing GREAT! Talking a lot, making a few friends - he loves school.

Welcome to Colorado!

Hi! I live a little north of Colorado Springs in Gleneagle. I have 1 daughter of 17 and a six year old son with autism and some other medical problems. My husband is from florida and I am dutch. When he retired from the military we lived in OH. We stayed there but hated it. So when my husband was layed of from both of his jobs it was an easy decision. My family told us to try Colorado. We did 2 1/2 years ago and we loved it. The schoolsystem my son is in is so much better we could not believe it.
Instead of a school telling me I am not accepting his mental retardation and that he will never will read or do any thing on his own here they said lets make a plan and set very high goals.
His goals for his old school were to stand on 1 foot and to sit in a chair with a tray durin circle for 5 minutes. Here his goals were learn the alphabet, safely learn to play on the play ground, sit in regular chair. and some more. He met every goal within 3 month.
He did not speak 1 word when we came here 2 years ago now he can read a book on kindergarten level he can spell first grade words he has a computer to help him communicate so if somebody does not understand him he can use the computer. It is all in the beginning stage. But I habe always said that my son is. smart. He might not be able to talk like other 6 year olds and he does need a lot of help but nowhere it says he needs to make college by age 18 . All I want is for him to be happy and reach his full potential. Sorry I think I started yapping a little to much.
I hope everone has a nice thanksgiving
