My kids are about to "track off" from school in another couple of weeks. They'll be home with me for about three weeks, and this is going to be our first off-track experience that hasn't fallen right in the middle of summer. I've got to say, I'm kind of excited about it!
Every single day, my kids BEG me to take them to the park. They complain that we never have "fun days" and that all we do is GO HOME every day after school. Yep, this is true. After running a household all day, drowning in laundry and string cheese wrappers and Barbie clothes, and navigating the parking lot at my kids' school, I am ready to chill for just a moment. I have about a 40 minute window between the time we walk in the door and the time I need to start dinner, and I usually spend that time sitting on the patio reading a magazine while the kids lose their minds running all over the yard. Going to the park just doesn't fit in anywhere.
But while we're out of school for three whole weeks? Bring it on, baby. I'm already planning park visits, a nature walk, autumn-themed craft projects, a possible zoo outing, and a visit to a pumpkin patch. I also plan to sleep until 8 every day. We'll see how that works out. My poor children don't know it yet, but I also plan to drag them to the flu shot clinic first thing in the morning the day it opens. ::evil laughter::
