Real Stories. Real Advice. Real Moms.

Hey everyone! In January 2008, right before Ellen's fabulous, 50th birthday, I won a cruise to Australia/ New Zealand during Game Week. My husband, Brett, and I were expecting our second child and so those affiliated with the show were helpful enough to extend the amount of time we had to take the trip. Well, you know the rest, we are like every other family that has had some scrapes and bruises from the economy. So, as business owners, it is absolutely impossible for us to leave and take a two-week trip.

I have tried to contact the Ellen show to see if we can give our trip to someone else; someone who has always dreamed of going to Australia/ New Zealand. But, I have had the darndest time reaching her, so I am hoping you can help! My hope is that if enough people respond and grab her attention we can get this trip in the hands of someone who can take it and enjoy every last second of the experiences!

You must be thinking - this chick is nuts. I am not nuts, I am truly a sane, normal wife, friend, and mother of two (Well, I guess how sane is a mom of toddlers, right?). And, although much appreciated, the two-week vacation would be detrimental to our family income. Brett and I do not feel right trying to “sell the trip” nor do we want it to “go to waste.”

Please know it is not my goal to receive any alternative prize or recognition for this comment- AT ALL! I just have no clue how else to try and get the staff's attention!

Here's to Ellen! The best TV host ever!

I completely do not think you are nuts! I am a wife and mother of 2 although my children are now 12 and 16 I remember the toddler days very well. I think that your generosity of wanting to give away such a fabulous trip is extraordinary. My husband and I have also been hit by he economy but sometimes I feel that it's always something standing in our way. Believe me I would love to surprise my husband with a trip like this, he has wanted to go to Australia since he was in the navy back in the early 90's, However if there is any way that I can help get this trip passed on to someone and help you get in touch with the Ellen show please let me know anytime!

I wish you lot's of luck with your children, just hang in there believe me it seems like yesterday that my 16 year old was 2. Enjoy it now!

You are amazing to do this! What a great mom and wife! I would absolutely LOVE to take my son! I am a single mom of an 18 yr old son who just graduated from high school and he's the nicest kid( I am so lucky!) We have never been alone on a trip before and he would go crazy! I went to nursing school when he was a year old and worked full-time as well for 4 yrs to pay the bills, His Dad has never been involved so its just the two of us. I graduated as an RN when he was 5 and it hasnt been an easy road but I wouldn't change it for the world- he's the love of my love. I had to have a total hysterectomy when I was 31 so I am blessed I have him! I would just so love to do something nice for him and i could never afford to do it on my own. I am sure there are so many people that deserve it more than we do but I would do love to do this with him- Thanks so much! Have fun with your kids it goes by so fast!!! Colleen

With god as my witness, I will never eat dirt again! LOVE aunt Pittypat. Here's some trivia - this movie is the only popular Civil War movie without a single battle scene.
