Don't laugh: Yom Kippur is my favorite holiday. That's because I associate it with my mom (who passed away 11 years ago)....she ALWAYS had a houseful of people over the night before to eat, eat, and eat some more. Every Yom Kippur I now make all of her recipes -- and I LOVE that my house is filled with the smells of her cooking. She had a motto: the more the merrier..and so would invite anyone and everyone: wayward cousins, divorced women, friends of friends -- anyone who didn't have a place to go. And though I have a small house, I try to do the same....cramming l6 people around a small table. It's this kind of spirit that, to me, is better than any other holiday.....and one I ALWAYS look forward to. And -- though people always ask me for my mom's famous noodle kugel recipe, I never give it out. I need it to be "mine," as a reminder of my childhood.
How about you? Are there any traditions/favorite holidays you have?
