Cougars?

What's up with calling women who date younger men "Cougars?"

Not sure, but it seems kind of silly. I know that Demi Moore is considered a cougar because of Ashton. Have any of you seen that T-Mobile commercial where the woman is referred to as a cougar?

Another way people find to label or criticize women who are bold enough to find someone who satisfies them!!! I applaud them.

Still the "Good Old Boys Club" where its a slap on the back ,and a good for you if its the guy
and woman are "Cougars" ready to pounce on the poor unexpected boy!!
Age shouldn't be a problem as long as both are over 21

Peggy hit the nail on the head, no one thinks twice when you see a man with a younger woman, in fact it seems like most men are looking for younger women, maybe they are better able to dazzle a younger woman, where they would actually have to have a berain and step up to the plate to date someone in there own age group! Let an older (who gets to say whats old and who put them in charge anyway) woman date a younger man and people are shocked, she's a cradle robber, etc. I personally think what's good for the goose is good for the gander, these women aren't seducing these younger guys, it takes two , the guys know they won;t have to put up with the giggly, juvenile games and an older woman is certainly going to know how to play well with others;) I say go girls, but yes do keep it over 21! Anyway why is it anybodies business what someone else does as long as it's legal and not hurting anyone.

There was an interesting article this month in New York magazine about whether or not cougars have more intelligent kids.

The study says that older women have "better" eggs, while younger mens' sperm is more viable than an older man's. Interesting theory.

And I personally think it's fine to date younger men. My husband is 4 months younger than me :) !

I agree Samantha. I'd call mature women w/ younger males a match made in heaven! The males are usually the ones initiating the arrangement in the first place...so who's hunting who?
I don't think labels really need to be placed on any relationship, no matter what the ages of the participants (as long as it's legal...). It's all about who really gets you, who makes you feel good about yourself, and if you can do the same for them. The body is a mortal shell. The spirit within is ageless....

I guess I tend to agree with those who believe the name-callers are jealous. I am married to a younger man (7 yrs my junior). When we first started dating everyone said the same things, but we just turned a deaf ear. I tend to not care what 'everybody' says. To me 'everybody' needto learn to mind their own business. My husband was married to a younger woman before me, and she ran off and abandoned her kids and him. Sometimes the older women are just more settled, and smarter. Younger guys are realizing that.
