Do You Know What Your Sitter is Doing?

Here in Quebec Canada we don't have too many of htese party centre play areas as much as the states just due to lower population, but he ones we do have I question. One day my family was at one of these play areas that was huge, my husband made a good point and said "Imagine there was a fire". A lot of parents just let their kids loose in these places and if there was a fire what would happen? Personally I am the type who enjoys crawling in and around through the tunnels and stuff...but I even got lost a few times. Many of these structures are made like mazes with only a few entrances and exits. If there was a fire, children would freeze or panic, it would take so long for parents or employees to get to these trapped children! My husband and I own a party centre ourselves but the difference is that we are a smaller scale for children ages 1-5yrs.old and we onlyhave structures by the LITTLE TIKES company. We don't have a germ infested ball pit like alot of places do. Plus we only run PRIVATE parties, we are not open to the public, it is only one party at a time so parents don't lose their kids amongst the crowd.
We have Burger King and McDonald play centres in our area and I do agree that they are dangerous, as a parent I believe it is also our reponsability to keep an eye on our children in play areas, but we also would trust a big company such as Burger King to keep our kids safe. Many of you are bashing thes parents of this little boy and I think that is wrong, have some sympathy, put yourself in their shoes! Anywhere we go there is danger, our children cannot live in bubbles. I believe these parents should look at the brighter side of things and know that it could've been worse, thank God he is still alive. It is tragic that such a thing happened.
