Dear Denise;
You are such a courageous woman. To be honest about your feelings and to honor them is very brave. You have many fears right now and that is not unusual so know that. How you choose to react to these fears is up to you. I can not recommend enough the outlet of journaling , drawing , etc to release your emotions and feelings. It is very healing. If you are into prayer, pray every day for strength and courage. Pray every hour if thats what you need.
Talk to us, we have been where you are and have felt many of your feelings. I think of my cancer experience as part of my journey here on this earth. It is part of who I am and the woman I have become. And yes, it will always be a part of me and visits and followups are a piece too.
Tears cleanse us and so many women I have met feel they can;t cry. I, for one am a big crier and at times when I have been at very low points and have shed many tears is then what moves me forward to do something constructive or positive for me. Contrary to belief we don;t cry forever and when we;re done we put our boots back on and get back into action again.
Imagine a beautiful, loving angel holding you with her soft, luminescent wings. Allow her to gently hold you and support you for a while. Feel her love , feel her strength. Let all thoughts go , just for this moment and rest.
I took it one day at a time in the beginning because the BIG picture was too much for me to handle. Know that you are doing exactly what you need to do.
So many resources available, so much support.
I send you peace and healing thoughts.

Just got some bad news from a friend. She has been here reading. Not ready to join I guess. Dont want to go into details. Maybe she will when she is ready. But it makes me think........is it ever really over? Her 2 is supposed to be very agressive. Did they get it all? Am I doing all this only to have to do it all again SOON?

I need to go out. Maybe do some Christmas shopping. I will sit here and cry other wise.

Denise, one day those exams will be annual. : ) I agree with Patty. See if they can reschedule for a close date.
Patty Bateson Comment by Patty Bateson on November 14, 2008 at 5:05pm
Do not be sorry about venting Denise. It is the best medicine for you to do just that. Allow yourself that moment of whatever emotion, and then move thru it. Right now is a mass of treatments, appointments, tests etc. It is all consuming at times ,never mind all your other mom duties.
My suggestion would be; Call and see if you can reschedule explaining your situation and as long as its close to one already scheduled. It sounds like an important visit for you. Let the office know your plight, if you really want to go the play and they may accomodate you. If not explain to your child or maybe someone else from the family could go. I know it;s challenging to not be at your kids important events but you must take care of you first and this will not last forever. This first year for you is a tough one. I have seen many women relax a bit when radiation is done and they are just coming for herceptin. They now have some room to breathe and more time to do the MOM things.
Healing thoughts to you

Congratulations Suzie;
That is the best news. Yes we need to continue to monitor our health forever. We are worth it though, aren;t we.

Today was the annual exams. Mammogram. Bone scan. Bloodwork. Mammogram - clean. Bone scan -- need to up the calcium and start on bone density medication (I had lost an inch in height!). Bloodwork -- excellent. Son in law called today and said, "why are you having to take these tests?". He was worried. I assured him that even 17 years later we needed to be on top of our health and one-year full exams are part of that. : )

Can I just say how sick I am of dr's appointments! Every week! And they usually fall when something else is going on. I have the radiation dr next Thursday and my youngest comes home with a paper saying next Thursday he is putting on a play. Now do I cancel the dr appointment and hope I can get another one quickly or do I once again tell him...........sorry I cant go again. I can not tell you how many times this has happened!!!!!

Sorry just needed to vent.

Oh, Denise,

I'm so thankful you received it today! I have switched "mail" carriers (smile!) and finally I'm getting good results (I'm not mentioning any names!). Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Okay, ladies, we have another gift to give away...this time a beautiful journal. So share the positive effects of journaling.
