Thanks Patty and Connie.
I am awaiting surgery on my arm to put a metal rod in it. after that I will have some radiation, though the surgeon still says that they are flipflopping on my diagnosis. It nice to know that there is a safe place to come and talk.

Are you in the mood for a PINK Vespa? Well, the Army of Women with Susan Love is asking for your support. If you recruit women for the cause between now and November 23 (to join the army to find a cure for breast cancer), you could be the winner.
Details for entering the contest and recruiting women are found at the the Army of Women website.

I have participated in two of the studies thus far in the Army of Women and it does my "heart" good to know that I am helping other women, so in the future no one will have to hear the words, "you have breast cancer."

Thinking pink thoughts!

Welcome Suzette;
Take a few deep breathes ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
This site is an enormous help to those navigating this journey called cancer.
We have all been at the starting point at one time or another , have experienced some of the same feelings and have been a source of comfort to each other.'

Gather all your data together, do your own homework if you choose and get your options. If you feel you want another opinion get one or two or three. Whatever it takes for you to feel comfortable with your treatment plan.
Roller coaster feelings are normal especially at the beginning. Seek comfort in friends, family or a support group; Positive support.
Journaling, relaxation tapes or cd;s to decrease anxiety, stress and help you sort through your feelings. Journaling can be very therapeutic and cathartic. I have done it for years and it has helped me immensely.
If you feel you need to talk to someone; ie; a therapist or counselor do so.
Just know that you are not going crazy; it;s just something no one every expects to hear and it can shake you to your very core.
You will see in time how strong, resilient and powerful you are;
Us breast cancer survivors can all attest to that statement.
Take it one step at a time. "Bite size pieces", I like to call it. For me when i was first diagnosed it was one minute at a time, and then it became one day, and so on and so forth.
You are not alone and have so much support out there to guide you every step of the way. Know that ;
Blessings

Suzette,

Welcome to Moms with Breast Cancer. Yes, you can "rant and scream" all you want here. Although I worked in the medical field for 20 years and was a tumor registrar, I'm not really qualified to comment specifically on your case. But it seems that you are receiving the appropriate treatment. Feelings of "this can't be happening to me" and "loss of control" types of feelings are normal. Fear can grip us at any time during the cancer journey and especially when everything is foreign.

We have an oncology nurse, Patty Bateson, that is also a breast cancer survivor here on "Moms with Breast Cancer." I will make sure that she sends you a message. Welcome to the group...we're here for each other.

I've been out of the country for two weeks and I'm just now getting caught up on my life away from the computer. It was encouraging to see that Breast Cancer Awareness Month was global. Pink ribbons wherever I traveled in Europe. Loved it!

Hugs from all of us here!

It's been a week since I returned from a trip to Austria with an author friend, and let me tell you, it was amazing...not just the beauty of the alps, the castles, the amazing food, but to see in a store window -- "Breast Cancer Awareness" with pink ribbons flying everywhere. While walking the streets of Vienna, I came across pink ribbon shoes and purses and started to cry (happy tears!). We are part of a global community and we can make a difference wherever we are in the world.
Remember when you step out the door today -- you are a SURVIVOR!

Blessings!

newbie here, and having a hard time navigating around . I am a bit of a weird case, in that I have had breast cancer cells removed from my upper arm, but no other cancer showing up despite multiple MRIs and bone scans. I am not really sick with cancer but i am worried and stressed out over the whatmighthappennext thoughts. and its been a roller coaster for me, one minute i am fine, the next they found cancer, i am on antibiotics for 10 weeks for a staph infection that i got during a biopsy of the arm, i can't do anything around the house, as my arm is basically broken until they can do the next surgery, its been months now, and i am tired of it. so i need someplace to yell. this looked like the closest fit? I will be having radiation in the future, after surgery to put a steel rod into my arm. but i am now worried with the whole swine flu scare goiing around, that my surgery won't happen as quickly as i want! i am a mess.
