Denise
www.kgstiles.com is a website I recently came across in Breast cancer wellness magazine. She is an aromatherapist and I believe she has a product for women while undergoing radiation treatment.
Hope all is well with everyone

My tumor was on the left but a nurse that I work with was on the right,
Haven;t heard back from aromatherapist friend who was checking with her mentor so would not recommend using lavendar with vit e right now. Will let you know if I hear from her.

Here is a question..............what side was your breast cancer on? Never thought about it much until another woman brought it up. Everyone I know has it on the left side. the cases I know of that are on the right are the second time around.

I dont understand how you can not eat meat. I love meat first of all and second I have been trying to eat more vegis so I will have a package (I know fresh is better) of veggis for lunch but in a hour I am hungry! they just dont seem to fill me up.
I do have fish once in a while but not often because hubby is allergic, call me lazy but I am not cooking fish for me and something else for everyone else. HA!

Okay, ladies, I see a lot of nutrition talk, which is good! The first five years of diagnosis, I was obsessed about everything I put in my mouth. I have eased up with each year of survival (13 years now), and although I stay away from meat completely (except organic chicken), I am much more balanced. I'm going for "quality of life." If I really crave something, I eat just a tiny bit of it and that seems to satisfy. Having just recently returned from Europe, I realized I lost six pounds just by eating one large meal a day and walking, walking, walking. Europeans now how to live and I think we would all be healthier if we followed their example.
I will be gone this weekend speaking at the Northwest Regional Medical Center for Cancer Survivors' Day honoring caregivers. If you're in the Scottsbluff area, be sure to stop by. It's free for all survivivors.

I got my turmeric at a whole foods- a natural store. The company is The Spice Hunter. I would think that a regular grocery store might carry it though.
I am checking with an expert aromatherapist about the lavendar and will let you know.
Can I tell you something. I am so proud of you. There is soooooooo much to learn about when you receive this diagnosis. You are asking and you are searching and willing to make some changes which is a HUGE step in returning to wellness. So I;m giving you a high five right now. Can you feel it.
Honestly, you are on the right path.
Will be in touch .

Patty I may have asked this but can I mix my lavendar with a lotion? Such as vitamin e cream?
Also that Tumeric...........can you get that at a regular grocery store?

Take a breathe Denise;
Take another one. One step at a time.
It is now recommended to have less animal protein, which includes dairy and more plant protein, which are fruits and vegetables. Body has an easier time with goat milk or cheese . less junk fed to it. Yes, some of this also has to do with fat turning into fat storage which is not conducive to breast cancer.
Tumeric or curcumin is a spice often used in Indian foods. I put it in rice dishes, soups and sometimes salad dressing.
What is hard for us to understand as our grandparents ate lots of this stuff we are being told not to eat and were healthy. BUT, the air, water, foods and the soil they are grown in, can have an effect on our bodies as well.

Fighting cancer with your help by david servan schreiber is an excellent book and susan silberstein has a program on line "fighting cancer with your fork" that has some great information as well.
If you work on changing one food at a time that is great. It takes time to change eating habits so be easy with yourself.

For sure combatting stress helps with any disease. And as Dr. Bernie Siegel

says: letting go of anger and unwanted emotions can be helpful. ]
Does your facility have a nutritionist. You want one who knows oncology as its such a unique field in and of itself.
If I can be of any more assistance let me know.
Just to let you know. It has been over five years for me and I am still learning about all this. It is lifelong and sounds like you have lots of time to learn .
Denise Comment by Denise on April 14, 2009 at 11:57am
OH and Patty where do you get tumeric? and what do you do with it?
Denise Comment by Denise on April 14, 2009 at 11:57am
Ok...........lots of rambling..........you ready?

Cheese? is it cheese that brought this on? I really dont think so. Think about it if it was more italians would have breast cancer! My sister eats cheese all the time and got me started on cheese. Good protein. She is a diabetic and has talks on nutrition all the time. Cheese is good for you. Why doesnt she have cancer? We are made up on the same stuff?
The dr says no cheese? Why? fat? hormones? Well those are in milk and dairy and he didnt say to cut those. He tells me now if I have to have cheese have low fat or no fat. Well this isnt making any sense. He said no cheese at first. Now I can but limit or low fat. BUT I can have goat cheese that has the same amount of sat fat as cheddar? Huh? When questioning him on it I dont get a real answer. Well now do I trust what he has told me and done so far? He told me 2% milk is ok. Well I see that has as much sat fat as small french fries so if that is the case again..........why no cheese? Does that have more sat fat then french fries? I have no clue. If it has to do with the hormones that isnt making sense either because my cancer wasnt a hormone cancer.....or sothat is what I am told. I will be the first to admit I SUCK at nutrition and diet. I try so hard but I fail.
I worry about my diet sometimes.......I am eating better. Not as good as I can be but better. I did go to 1% milk even with the dr telling me 2% is ok. But I see people eating crap all the time and they dont get cancer.
I have gotten olive oil.........dont cook much with it but then again I dont use reg oil much either. I did make fried potatoes which we havent had in years with it the other day.
I am eating more spinich and brocoli. Ok so most times it is cooked in the microwave which people tells me nukes out the good stuff. I just cant win. I know people who nuke everything, no cancer, and seem very healthy.

Has anyone thought that maybe the rise in cancer is due to stuff we are stopping because they are bad for us? Years ago there didnt seem to be so much cancer. Maybe we have cut something out of our diets that we shouldnt have. NO clue what it could be just a thought.
my thoughts on deoderants that contain aluminum..........well they wouldnt more people have cancer? I would say a good 90% of people use them. Wouldnt it be more of a cancer under the arm or a skin cancer?

believe it or not someone told me all issues with our bodies are brought on by outside source. Example if you have breast issues chances are you have had unresolved issues with your father. Gee I did! but then so did my sisters, even bigger issues them me! More on that is if you had issues with your mom you would have lower female issues.
We can go on and on about all this. But what do we listen too?
here is a thought I had.........maybe it has to do with the kids I had. I had all boys. Maybe the hormones and the boys while I was pg with them didnt mix well? but then again maybe that would have been more a estrogen cancer or something.
see what happens when you think too much.
now believe me you are all sitting there thinking..........OMG this poor girl is a wreck over this. I am not. I am just........what can I do and I am going on with my life.
Did I cut cheese out? No I am limiting it. I am trying to eat less sat fat. NO trans fats. but I still will have McDonalds once in a blue moon.

Anyway I have to get some stuff done around the house. Will be back with more rambling later. LUCK YOU! HA
