My daughter started Kindergarden today, and it was good to spend time with her doing a little homework. I am looking forward to re-learning, we only just begun. Chris

Teresa, I def. see your point of view. I have a sister and we are the best of friends. Our father passed away, three years ago and it was awesome to have each other's support. I always believed we would have two children. I had a difficult preg. and did not want to risk either myself for my unborn child trying to have another. In having one, it does allow us to do a lot more $$$, especially with the economy it is now. Having a brother or sister doesn't always guarantee a "friend for life".
In short I did not plan on having one, it just worked out that way and it has been the best for us. Christina

We have on son 22 months old and my family is asking when we will get going on the next. I'm a little nervous to have another because, I'm just now getting a used to this. I've been told I was trying to hard but I just want to be the best mother and wife I can be.
My husbands parent passed away within 6 months of eachother, mother from cancer and father from heart attack. If it wasn't for his brother he would have been all alone. With 2 family businesses to run and no real family to be there for him.
I have a great family and they would be there for our lil guy should something happen to us but if he had a brother or sister wouldn't having them in their lives be a lifetime reward? He could be an uncle someday.
My husband has plenty of friends, but once they get married that bond is most often altered. A bond with your brother or sister is permenent.

I also have the same concerns but I hoping to teach her that her "sister" friends can be just as close. I also have a sister who has two children younger than her, so she will grow up with her cousins. just as it a balance with work and home, it is the same in teaching her to be friendly and make new friends at the same time play independently.

I have my concerns my little girl is going to be lonely as she gets older. Want to know how to make sure she's happy and well-adjusted without siblings! Any suggestions?

Hi, I wanted to start a group for moms/dads who decided or it was decided for them that they would only have one child. Don't know about anyone else but I receive lots of comments especially from my own family of why I don't have more children. I am a working mom and this the best plan for my husband and I. I know my limitations and to balance work and motherhood one is the best. We do try very hard to make sure she doesn't get spoiled, but we are not perfect parents so she probably has more stuff animals then one little girl should own. I am looking forward to talking to other moms, with thoughts and suggestions.
