My first born was 2 months early. He was 4 lbs 3 oz and 16.5 inches long - that was so scary for me.He stayed in the NICU for 10 days and he had to wear a monitor for 6 months. Now he is 14 years old and you'd never thought he was a preemie!!

My youngest was born 2 months early at 4 lbs 15 oz and 16 inches long. She had a hard time keeping her temperature up at first (that's why there are blankets), her mouth was too small to nurse (playtex nursers are great) and she developed asthma. Now at 15 years old, you can't tell anything was wrong with her. She outgrew her asthma and has mild allergies and a teens attitude.

Hi, I'm new here and both of my kids were born preemie at 33 wks. My daughter was born on July 4, 2006 weighed 4.1 lbs and was 16.5 in long. Spent her time in the NICU for 11 days. My son Jason was born Dec 20, 2007 he weighed 4.10 lbs and was 17 3/4 in long. He was in the NICU for 18 days and the hardest part was that he was still in the hospital for both of the holidays that year (X-Mas, New Years.) My kids only had a feeding tube down their nose to their tummys and they both had a little jaundice. Now my daughter is three and my son is almost two and they are the typical toddler/preschooler just like any other. I love them and they are the loves of my life. Since my son was born, my husband and I joined March of Dimes which is a great non-profital orginization to help with research and fundraising to help babies be born full term and healty. This past April we participated in a 5 mi walk for March for Babies. We helped with fundraising in support of my kids, my niece who were all born premature. Not only that, but to help other babies and families who's experience preterm birth and infant loss. If any of you guys would like to know more, got to www.marchofdimes.com for more info.

Hello. I am the mom of a 4yr old little girl who was born at 24wks. You could never tell now what she went thru as a preemie. Has slight asthma but fine with everything else. She stayed 3and a half months in the nicu. That i would have to say was the hardest thing i have ever been thru.

hi my son was born 13 weeks early at 27wks and weighed in at only 890gms the next 12 weeks away from home with no family or friends around for support(our local hopsital doesnt have facilites for bubs under 32wks)
