A resolution reaffirming support for state regulation and taxation of the tobacco market to reduce its influence on our youth and communities and a call to apply similar governance to the unregulated marijuana market.

2009 Tobacco and Marijuana Market Impact Index
- Texas Trends
- National Trends

This is the nation’s most comprehensive study showing that our broader regulation efforts over the tobacco market during the past 10 years have surpassed enforcement of the marijuana market ban in protecting the health of young teens in Texas and across the country. Furthermore, despite the enforcement of the marijuana market ban costing ten times more than our tobacco prevention efforts, school districts in every surveyed major city across the country (including those in Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Waco and Lubbock) are now reporting that use of marijuana is more widespread among young teens than that of tobacco cigarettes.

Texas Marijuana Arrest Maps

To emphasize the massive police resources absorbed by the marijuana market ban and their impact on various communities, we have also published the largest online collection of aerial maps showing arrest trends for marijuana possession and sales in 30 cities spanning 14 counties throughout Texas.

Texas School Survey of Drug and Alcohol Use Archives

The largest online collection of previously unpublished school district survey data on student drug use, covering years 1989 to 2009. This information was produced by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse in conjunction with the Public Policy Research Institute (PPRI) at Texas A&M University.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey Archives

This nationwide survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides trend data at national, state, and school district level concerning student drug use, in addition to other health risk behavior issues.
