We're giving away a ONE YEAR membership to Sittercity! Whether it's child care or pet care you need, you can find a trusted source at Sittercity.
To WIN: Tell us how you prepare the kids for sitter night (do you sneak out? prep them for days?) and you'll be entered to win during our Mom's Nite Out event, Thursday May 7, 2009 from 6-midnight ET. We'll announce our WINNER at 10:30pm ET.
I put my son to bed, then quietly slip out! We only use Grandma or Pepere for a sitter, so the times he has woken up, it's no big deal.... "Hey, Grandma's here!"
He is just two, so we can get away with this for now!
Usually grandparents watch my son so not a big deal since he loves staying there, but I will be moving soon and working full time since becoming a newly single mom so in deseprate need of some child care help as they wont be around as much for me anymore :-(
I'm lucky because I have an abundance of sitters (i.e. grandparents) who are willing to babysit and my son loves to be with them so he never seems to mind when we leave him in their hands.
Just tell her that we're going out for a while and that someone nice will be watching her while we're gone. She loves sitters. She gets someone new to tell all of her jokes and funny stories too :)
No long and drawn out prepping for our daughter. We just tell her we're going out and when we'll be back, give her a reassuring hug, tell her goodbye, and head out the door. If she knows we're confident, she's usually confident as well. And we use a trusted and loved babysitter!
I make sure that my son has a movie that he has picked out to watch with the sitter. I also buy the sitter and my son ice cream and junk food, so it is more like a fun night for him, rather than a night out for me.
I let them know as soon as I know, I dont want to sneak out then have them go looking for me and I am not there, so I let them know, they are okay with it since my sitter is usually my sister
I usually have the Emergency numbers on the fridge.
I type up a note with suggestions of what to do with them, their schedule, and snack/drink ideas for them.
If possible, I will put the kids to bed first.
I make sure to have food in the house the sitter will enjoy, the TV remotes available.
And I said to them cast away the detestable things your eyes feast on, everyone of you and do not defile yourselves with idols of Egypt:I am the Lord your God, Ezekiel 20:7...program director at large...that the network disregards...for free will...
