We're giving away a ONE YEAR membership to Sittercity! Whether it's child care or pet care you need, you can find a trusted source at Sittercity.
To WIN: Tell us how you prepare the kids for sitter night (do you sneak out? prep them for days?) and you'll be entered to win during our Mom's Nite Out event, Thursday May 7, 2009 from 6-midnight ET. We'll announce our WINNER at 10:30pm ET.
We never went out without the kids when they were little. We couldn't afford to hire sitters so if we were lucky enough to get out the kids had to come along.
I have not had a night out since my son was born (7 months ago), big bummer but worth every moment, however, my mom who absolutely adores my son but does not live that close has taken him for weekends in the past. The only way we can leave once we drop him off is to have my mom distract him by the window (this has backfired once already), or in her bedroom with a toy, and then we can sneak out.
Well we don't really get to have a sitter but when we do usually its my parents. So really we just have them pack their clothes for the night and we take them over. They know our rules and grandparents know how to handle them.. Other than that nothing more...lol
I tell her on the same day so she will not ask me a lot of questions...Then she has less anxiety and gets into games and plays with the babysitter without any problem...
I tell them a few hours before we go. I am very honestly. I tell them we love them, Mom and dad are going out and we will be home soon. Our babysitters are family and close friends so our kids are very comfortable. I usually order pizza or leave a fun dessert treat so they have fun too! I make their night speical as ours is
I use my dad as a sitter most of the time, or the other grandparents, but we used to sneak away without my son knowing we left, now we tell him that if he is really good for grandad, grammy or papa whomever is watching him he will get a present when we get back, it works in two ways we get to go out and the sitter gets a well behaved little boy.
I've never left my son with a sitter (other than family) yet, but I imagine that we'll talk about it a little and I'll plan some special things for him to do with the sitter, like a movie or game or art project.
We're pretty spoiled in that we have both sets of grandparents closeby and willing to babysit. The kids have a great time with them and look forward to us going out so they can spend time with their grandparents.
I have 2 daughters, 1 granddaughter, and 1 son, and me. We all love twilight sooooo much!! I thought this game would be the link of getting everybody back togeather in one place to play this game. You see they all have there own lives but this wil...
How are you defining "big families" for the purpose of your study? In some respect that's all relative, as some people consider 4 kids to be a big family and others not till there are 8 kids, or somewhere in between.
