I checked out the SitterCity website and it's a wonderful resource for babysitters AND adult "sitters". I told my mother about the site and while she's not really interested in having a non-family member stay with my father, she said she'll keep it in mind. I suggested that she join the site and meet with a few caregivers in her area. One thing that she noticed, was that all the caregivers listed were female. My father gets extremely embarrassed when a female sees his "privates" (which came as a surprise to us when he was hospitalized last year) and she was wondering why there aren't more male caregivers.
Is this unusual? I'd assumed that this was something that both men and women would do as a profession. Perhaps not equally, but I would have thought that there would be at least 25% men caregivers.
