We got this cool electronic "treasure chest" toy last Christmas that breaks into 2 parts. One part you hide; the second part you hold and use to find the hiddent part. It beeps when you get close to the hidden side -- and helps directs kids around the house. My little ones play with that toy for HOURS. LOVE it! They also are big fans of making collages. We save all kinds of catalogues, and make a collague out of pictures that start with different letters of the alphabet.
When my son was small, we'd spend hours playing easter egg games. I saved the plastic easter eggs so on special days when we really needed a distraction (like bad weather days) I'd fill the eggs with treats or prizes and hid them around the house. It was fun.
Depending on age When my children were very small TV was not a good babysitter However I did like to keep it on for back ground noise I use to play Walt Disney movie's a lot my one daughter loved Peter Pan. I guess having the four girls was a help here because there was never a dull moment, they kept each other busy and always had friends over plus I babysat. So they had great minds to put to work and they used them, Even when they were not suppose too, Never turn your back or sleep too hard. I can laugh now but I was not laughing then when my daughter got up at two am and made pancakes in my carpet, she climbed out of a crib to do it. I love my Girls they remind me of the actors on ice age.
we do lots of craft and coloring projects.......cover table with butcher paper and let them all finger paint. Put Dawn dishsoap in paint and won't stain hands as bad! :)
Kids love to scrapbook, make picture frames with scrapbook scraps, using glue and it neat because its their pictures . I always had fun and the kids loved it
In FLA it doesn't get to freezing very often so that is actually one of our fave times to paly outside. Otherwise we are reading or playing games by the fireplace.
Sexting, meeting strangers online, peer pressure... Having a teenager is a lot to handle. This is the place to connect with other moms on how to keep your kids safe.
You've seen it all. Now your children face the challenge of parenthood - your wisdom is invaluable. How do you strike a balance between offering advice and allow them room to learn from own their experience, even if making the same mistakes you did?
