I'm new to this blogging and posting thing, My husband Tom and I have done treatment foster care for about 20 years. Our own children are grown, one of them raising her own "difficult" teen boys adolescence can be difficult for Grandmas as well. We currently have 5 teenage girls, 12,14,15,16,17.5. We prefer to have kids that are long term, we have taken gaurdianship of some.... they all become part of our family, some just take a little longer to realize they really do love us. I've often taken out my drivers license to prove that the names they were choosing for me were not valid and it said so on an official Goverment document. I'm looking forward to being a part of this group, parenting teens is a difficult process no matter what, and there are certainly days Ineed a forum like this

I have two teens. THey have some problems with looks and eating, but what teen doesn't. Most teens as well as adults think that someone else looks better than them. That's normal human behavior.

I am a mother of 4 children which one is a 16 year old female. She seems to have a true self esteem problem,in her mind she thinks ever other girl is nicer looking than her, but I try to point out all the great things she has going for herself.

I am the mother of four children, two that are out of the teen years and two that are RIGHT THERE in those teen years. Risky behavior is what they do, because they think they are invincible.

It's nothing to be ashamed of--when your teen experiments. It's not "bad" parenting. But we do have to be proactive as parents and make sure we aren't being fooled.

I was a teen not so long ago. I have seen a lot and can now look back and see everything my mom has ever said to me and really understand it. I have always had a great relationship with my mom, i just wanted to do what i wanted to do. But i really believe its who you hang out. I see that now. Just like my mom always told me. I had always said i am strong enough to do what i want and know right from wrong. But if i never put myself in those situations then i would not have anything to worry about.
