I've used a nailpolish on my daughter when she used to suck her thumb. It's called Mavala Stop and helped my daughter to stop sucking her thumb, but she also bit her nails too. I bought this product on Amazon.com and it only cost me about 4 bucks. You use the product every two days for 33 days or until he stops on his own and it should help your son stop bitting any of his nails. It has a bitter taste to it so might work with. I now have to use the stuff again cuz my daughter is also chewing her nails too and can't figure out why?

My son just turned 2 in October and has been biting his nails for months on end now. Fingers and toes. He bites the so short they bleed. I can not get him to stop. I've tried that nasty stuff they sell at the drugstore, it's like nail polish that you brush on, but that doesn't stop him. I can kinda keep it in check during the day, but when he's in his crib for a nap or for bedtime, that's when he goes to town. Then he'll tell me he has a boo boo on his toe toe. I tell him it's because he bites them, but he keeps doing it. Any suggestions here??

Hi, I'm new to this site and I've been typing and looing for the perfect site who can help me with my preschooler daughter. I have a three yr old daughter who still has the habit of chewing some toys and even her nails. When she was 2 1/2 we had gotten her a big girl bed so she could feel like a big girl. Her bed was really pretty and had gotten in cherrywood color. Well, after about two or three months she started to chew on it. We tell her not to do it and that she needs to stop. Her bed is getting so worse that it looks like beavers were working on it. She has bitten the side rail, the headboard and other parts of her bed. We are planning on getting her a new bed, the plastic kind, but we are running out of ideas on what we should do to help her stop.
