My son is showing signs that he's ready for potty training. I am clueless on the best way to encourage his transition from diapers to big boy pants!!! Looking for great recommendations - books, type of potty, etc.
I'm am but a lowly babysitter/nanny, but I've been with and am currently with families working on this, so here are my observations:
I've seen the most success when most or all of the bathrooms provide something that makes it accessible to the potty trainee, be it a little potty chair or one of those child sized seats that can be placed over the main seat.
Start now! If your little kiddo seems to be interested, you should probably try to get something in place pretty soon. I watched a little one who was ready ready ready get quite discouraged and delay for a year and a half because he didn't have any potty seat/modification available and the big seat is just not a good tool.
IKEA has some really cheap and quite basic potty seats, if you live near one. :) My mom (who does developmental therapy for children 3 and under) bought a couple for families she works for. If nothing else, they're a good cheap start and easy to move from room to room since they are small and one piece.

If I were YOU and YOU were ME...and WE were one ANOTHER. Then we would know how to truly LOVE each other. We'd do unto others...as we'd have done unto ourselves. Be selfless...that's selfish in reverse. Sounds crazy but it could work. Wo...man wh...
