Possibly the best purchase I've made is a 5 dollar collection of beach toys. Bucket, shovel, etc. She can play with them at the park or playground, and it teaches her to share. Oh and bubbles. Must. Have. Bubbles.

Bubbles, a rattle and a soft blanket. A first year memory book is fantastic too! They'll appreciate it when they get older. I have the one my mom filled out for me and I love it. It's amazing to see my hand and foot prints and just learning things about my first year of life. I know my daughter will appreciate the book I made for her when she gets older.
