Hi Amy, I have had the personal experience with what you are about to experience. I may be out of my league here, Im 55 and a grandmother of two and one due any day. My son who is now 34 years old had constant ear infections for almost two years. I finally said ENOUGH! I told his pediatrician we are going to a specialist. So off we went. Immediately he was scheduled for a myringotomy. Best thing I ever did for him. The time period I waited actually caused him to be left with hearing loss in both ears but not to the point he is deaf or in need of aids for hearing. Definitely do this. It is a simple procedure, done in outpatient surgery. I use to work for an ENT doctor and he did at least 15 of them each week. When the ear is completely healed they will either come out by themselves or the dr. will remove them. My son did experience at one point later in life recurrent ear infections again and the dr. stated "he gets one more the tubes have to go back in." Thank goodness he only had three and then they stopped. You won't regret it and please put yourself at ease about this.Since my son had this surgery things have greatly improved. I use to work with a gentleman about six years ago who amazingly told me the doctor who came up with the idea of the myringotomy surgical procedure was a close friend of his family. His name escapes me but I thought wow how amazing to know someone like him who discovered something so amazing. And u won't believe how small they are. BREATH EASY EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE! TRUST ME!

Hey Amy,
I haven't experienced this personally but I know soooo many kids who've been thru this due to severe and constant ear infections. They've all done really well and life has returned to normal. Bring this up on the TMC board too and I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses and support!

maybe someone can help me....im really worried,my 20 month old is going to get tubes in her ears tomorrow,im really worried.has anyone every been through this?what can i expect?

Unusual for me. I'm all ways on the go don't get the chance to get a good meal in to often. OH yeah, I almost forgot. I had an ice cream for my dessert.
