Really, if I had a "good tip" for loosing weight, I wouldn't need to win this! LOL! That being said, portion control is really the best way to loose weight... with heavy emphasis on control!

I've been needing help to lose weight for a while now. So I certainly hope I win!

Thanks for the chance!

My tip (which would be great if I would follow it) is to follow the DTour diet - created for Diabetics and Pre-Diabetics. The 4 main foods to focus on - Fiber, Calcium, Vitamin D and Omega-3s.

Moderation. What good is dieting if you don't learn anything in the process about your eating habits. I believe that you should eat good healthy foods in smaller amounts. Of course, that being said - I need to start doing that NOW!

My biggest tip- no junk snacking! Have carrots, celery, cheese available at work or at home. Wherever you feel more vulnerable (mine is work!)

I have wanted to try Nutrisystem for a long time but our food budget just won't allow it. My biggest diet tip is to cut way back on carbs (or completely eliminate if possible). My hubby, son and I have also gradually made veggies the focus on our plates - in other words, they dominate the plate, meat (actually mostly chicken) and carbs are what we call the minority on the plate. We do a lot of stir-fry and grilling of veggies and a eat a lot of salad creations (what shall we put in the salad bowl tonite?). This mainly became necessary when hubby was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol about 6 years ago. Shortly after I became disabled with an uncommon nerve problem in my leg (RSD) and gained weight ( a lot) due to inactivity and some of the meds I am on for pain. Then my father-in-law passed away from complications of his diabetes and heart problems. My darling hubby finally decided to listen to me and we all 3 got into making a serious attempt at lifestyle change. We did it gradually to be less painful and now we can hardly believe we used to eat red meat and carbs in the protions we used to eat them in. We also cut our meat bills way down and put it toward organic produce in winter (expensive!!) and I grow my own in container gardening (all I can manage with my disability) in the summer. The 3 of us are healthier and lighter for it.

Skip the empty calorie drinks! You never realize how many calories you waste on drinks. Stick to water!

Fit in exercise in small intervals throughout the day. I do sit ups and push ups on my break and I can see a difference in a month.

My tip is that when my kids are done eating (I have 5) to make sure I scrap thier plates right away (or get the older ones to do it) so I'm not tempted to finish off those chicken nuggets etc.
I also make an effort to not sample much while cooking! I also like to track my calories and exercise on sparkpeople.com (free)

I have started using the smaller plates instead of the big dinner plates. That way you limit your portions and when it comes to seconds.........it gives you a few minutes to think if you really want it. The slower you eat, the less you eat.

With god as my witness, I will never eat dirt again! LOVE aunt Pittypat. Here's some trivia - this movie is the only popular Civil War movie without a single battle scene.
