Welcome, Momlogic friends & visitors!

A bit about my books

"As a soon-to-be new dad, I found this book entertaining because Brenda has no fear in showing her own mistakes and successes in raising her two daughters. She puts you at ease and reassures you that you won’t be perfect from the start, just keep trying and see what works best with your child. Childrearing should not be a daily challenge, but Nixon notes it is a journey where all parents learn to grow and become better parents." Dan Smith, OH.
Released in '09, my second parenting book is available at bookstores and online everywhere.

Five friends and I co-authored the delightful A Scrapbook of Christmas Firsts available at Amazon or bookstores.

Great! Thanks Brenda! I think it is a good idea to get feedback from parents at your next conference. I'll be in touch next month! As a parenting expert, I really think your impressions would be valuable too! :)

Hi Brenda,
That would be wonderful! I love to get REAL feedback from parents in the "trenches" of potty training! I look forward to hearing from some of the parents from your seminar. Would you be willing to write a quick little blurb about what you love about the program? I like to put the reviews on the website and it would have a link to your site.
Thanks so much!
Jill

Hi Brenda!
I thought your name sounded familiar. My publicist Maureen requested to send you some Potty Tots Potty Training kits for a conference you were having. Just wondered if you got any feedback from the parents on the program? Would love to hear your thoughts as a parenting expert as well!
Thanks!

Brenda, I'm collecting questions from CML members about parenting. One is about potty training. Can I send that to you and make it a blog post for all the members? Let me know.

Spanking Debate

Spanking is a furiously debated issue and one that may begin for you in these early years. Parents, both for and against the practice, herald research and quote childrearing experts who support their position. I've met parents who are militant in their stance and condemn others for opposing views.

As a speaker, I've been criticized by a few audience members because I didn't tell parents to spank as an act of love and godly parenting. Some Christian parents claim the Bible commands them to spank… Continue

Raise a Reader

Raise a Reader

My Laura, now 20-years-old, confessed recently that she loved the book Jamberry. She remembers the silly rhyming text with the dancing bear and little lad as they jam in Berryland, cavort in strawberry fields, rumble and ramble in blackberry brambles, and topple their canoeberry with blueberries. Reading aloud to Laura brought us together for moments of joy and unique mother-daughter bonding.

Right from the start, read aloud to your child. “Reading aloud is one… Continue

Cheap Entertainment for Kids

Got kids who are spread out in age? Mine are, by six years.

Need ways to entertain yours? If their ages are spread out, you know that entertaining them together at the same time is a challenge. Often, my girls went different directions in their play, and that was okay. But, many times I wanted low-cost, middle-of-the road entertainment to pull both together so I could be involved and bond with them.

Here are three low cost activities I used when mine were young. Maybe you already do these, but… Continue
