Step-parent and raised them from 7 and 10 to 17 and 20. Now grown up but I should have written a What NOT To Do as A Step-Parent back in the 70s. Biggest surprise about parenthood?
Harder than I EVER thought, especially when you had no hand in raising them from infancy, for everyone has their own personality and mind, and they want to use it 'their' way while they are resenting the 'new wife' and defending 'the mom' Hardest decade I ever had, for there was no 'primer' on how to be a good step-parent
Best parenting advice you have given or received?
Don't push them, let them come when they are ready but always be available to them.
Lipstick. I have virtually no lips and without lipsticks people may not realize I am even talking. Lipstick (and no I don't do the bright red) just helps enhance what I do actually have.
