Jill,

Regarding the "Recession Mom" article, I have been trying to spread the word on a horrible thing that is affecting moms (and dads) as a result of this economy. I was hoping you could help.

This it is happening all over the country. There are some parents that live in their cars, in tents at friends garage. There is state monies to aid with food and somehow we can all find clothes from the church donation, or neighbor that has a child that grew out of them while we try to get back on our feet...after the mortgage company foreclosed, or whatever the personal situation is.
The fact remains that the states sees this as an injustice to our children, and is breaking the law (4th and 14th amendment) by removing our children from loving and caring parents EVERYWHERE, and the numbers are skyrocketing everyday!!!
My daughter (13) thought it would be more "fun" to stay at a friend’s house with a pool and this nosey neighbor buying her new clothes and offering to buy her dance lessons because we could not afford it. What 13yo wouldn't want that? One little call to TN DHS by the nosey neighbor, and I haven't seen my daughter in 4 months (and counting). The Judge dropped all the false accusations and DHS unfounded the case. I still do not have custody...her bio father does (who does not want her so he "gave" her away to a family member with whom I do not speak with and cannot afford her).
Custody and the reuniting of my daughter has not happened and the state has made NO efforts to assist in reunification although the Judge ordered it. Hard to do when you send my DD to another state and I do not have the gas money to visit 5 hours away (or the insurance or tags). SO, here is what is referred to as "PARENTIAL ALLIENATION". That is the normal process in which a child, such as mine, will go through, as she has a new school, new friends and is not interested in what's "right" by returning home, only what is more fun for her right now. My 13yo sweetheart is driving the bus and the state is letting her. Since when can a 13yo child make such decisions? I wanted to run away when I was 13 as well, which is EXACTLY what the state has helped my little girl along with a pat on her back stating "you did the right thing". Sub sequentially, she can call or have contact with the person that instigated this entire false fiasco, whenever she wants.
Thanks Tennessee.
If you or know someone interested in helping the families of TN, PLEASE sign this petition. You do NOT have to reside in this state (or even country) to sign!:

Hi Jill! This site is amazing! I am so happy things are going so well for you! I am still in NJ but FINALLY moving back to LA next summer. Luke will be starting 1st grade and my daughter (yeah;) Layla just turned 1. I think about you and my old life raising Luke in LA every day! We still miss it so much. We will be coming in the fall to see where to live with kids. Happy to see that the real estate in LA is down more than the real estate in NJ. Maybe we can finally buy a house!! If you have any info on neighborhoods...somewhere between Calabasas and Studio City or somewhere south of the 10 and above Palos Verdes...let me know!!!! I cant do the west side anymore. I am spoiled my space and have not gone back to work yet! Hope all is well! Christina Antaky

I think so many single Moms forget to make time for themselves. I agree with you that they have so many demands on them. Honestly, I don't think society gives single Moms the credit they deserve for working, raising a family and maintaining sanity...
