Random Musings from a mother's mind
So first entry blogging...what took so long? I have always liked to write and I tend to be outspoken, seems natural to blog then, doesn't it? So my excuses...not enough time, too tired, no one will read what I write...you know the usual. But something told me to get busy, write those thoughts....yes, the Random Musings!

- Joy....I know my request in my last posting was a little out of the blue but again, I'm so excited that I connected with you. I know our experiences with cancer our so very similar as is our vision to help others. I look forward to hearing from you if there's a time that will work to visit. - I'm so glad to hear from you!! Yes, our circumstances are so similar which is why your story touched my heart. I did have lymph node involvement, though, which is why my cancer was staged at IIIa. This experience has beyond a doubt changed my life tremendously. It's not been easy but there have been so many unexpected rewards. Not only do I look at things differently but have acted as well on the pull now to reach out to others - and I have a vision on how I want to do that. Again, our stories are so similar!! I have worked with the local hospital in Cresco and have started a support group - I facilitate the group and we have 8 folks who attend on a regular basis and have been meeting since Jan 2009. I am also working with the hospital on planning a cancer survivor workshop. We have tentatively scheduled this to be held on January 16, 2010 from 9 am to 3 pm at the hospital with the topics to be presented as follows: 1. The New Normal 2. Living With Cancer 3. We have a motivational speaker from Decorah presenting - I've seen the outline but not the final presentation yet 4. Laughter Yoga. A lunch will also be provided. Joy, this is where I'd love to visit with you....and please bear with me as I know this is so out of the blue! I was going to present The New Normal but I'd so LOVE to have you talk to our support group and also do this segment of the presentation at the workshop! I believe it would be such a great thing if you would consider this. Would you consider calling me to discuss? This workshop is only the 2nd step in my overall vision of what I'm driving towards...I have so many thoughts regarding how to help others and am passionate about this. I would love to connect with you and share thoughts on what I'm doing today and where my vision is leading me - and also about what you've done.
