Lu Dodd said… Hi Leslie,
Can you please organize women to fight against the use of BPA in ALL products. One of the Bush administrations tried but failed (he said, "In vain") to ban its use.
I am very concerned about what it is doing to our children. Twice on Dr. Oz, he had guests that said, "BPA minics estrogen in the body." One female doctor/guest on his show said, "They thought it was hormones in meat that was causing girls to go into early puberty, now it is believed to be BPA." The doctor said girls are reaching puberty as early as 7 years old. My 5 1/2 yr old niece is starting to grow breasts and grow puberty "fuzz". BPA is banned from baby bottles. Now Mothers have to raise their voices again to have it banned from any and ALL products. The doctor on Dr. Oz. said to always heat ALL food in the microwave in a glass container. Never heat anything in plastic in the microwave; it leeches chemicals out of the plastic into the food. The doctors never said BPA was gender specific.....so if it is sending girls into early puberty by introducing their bodies to a chemical that mimics estrogen, what is it doing to little boys? If I had a little boy, I would make sure he does NOT ingest BPA. I feel females in their youth are being robbed of their innocence, to some degree. I started just before my 14th birthday. It was hard enough then to deal with my monthly periods, try to explain to a 7 year old all abouth her period. It will be tougher for her, don't you think? Please help our youth.
