And Then There's That Mystery Meat...

There it was. Lurking. You know, that stuff that lives in the bottom shelf of your refrigerator. Behind the week-old leftovers and the month-old orphan hot dog, lurks the most mysterious of fridge-dwelling creatures.

If you hadn't moved the fridge in yourself, you would swear the last homeowners must have left it there. When did I need hoisen sauce and red curry paste? Why did I buy a gallon-sized jar of roasted red peppers and capers? And what in the name of organic chemistry is living in that… Continue

Costco Learning

Quick! Sharpen your pencil for a Motherhood SAT question:
Ironman is to Exercise as Costco is to _______________?
Answer: mother with three children under six in tow.

Preparing for a trip to Costco with three kids is not for the faint of heart. Physical strength, emotional stamina, and mental insanity are prerequisites. Expect sweat and tears. From the kids, too.

Tuesday and Wednesday came and went.

On Wednesday afternoon, as I sipped my hot coffee while cruising down 64, I felt a lit… Continue

Prayer and Rhythms of Rest

I just left my oldest (as in, I've known her the longest), and dearest friend Christy's house. She lives in Colorado Springs and I had the wonderful gift of a three-day visit with her, her new baby Nicole (yep, isn't that cool!!), and her mother. We had such a great time just being in the new-baby stage together. Christy's sweet husband is deployed to Iraq so she's going at the new-momma thing all alone. And she's handling it beautifully!

Nicole can be a bit, ahem, sensitive. Each night we woul… Continue

Women: When they are good they are very, very good, but when they are bad...

There was a little girl, who had a little curl
right in the middle of her forehead
and when she was good, she was very very good
but when she was bad, she was horrid!

What is it with the way we women feel about our own race?

Consider this:

Women I know (including me) who were wary when they found out that pink bows were in their future. I was so panicked when I found out I was having Cameron that Dave had to remind me in the ultrasound room, "Relax. She's not going to come out thirteen… Continue
