I was doing some Thinking tonight, As I sit here in this quite livingroom. And I was thinking about how I may have been able to change things, So that my kids dident have to see us struggle so bad. Or how my health would not be keeping me so sick. I was wondering if something I did as a Teenager c…

Thelma, you have had a successful banking and corporate career. You’ve spoken all over the country and around the world, done a lot of radio interviews, had your own television show, and written a lot of books. Many of our readers will be familiar with you from the Women of Faith conferences. It seems you’ve “done it all.” So when you left Women…

In 2000 when I married my Airman husband I had the face of youth – no worry lines (or at least very few) creased my face. The next year saw 9/11 and the calm life I’d known as a military wife was forever altered. We live in Nebraska, far from ground zero, and yet the effects of what happened and the war that began as a result deeply impacted us as it did every military family in one way or another.
I was pregnant with our first child at the time, only three months away from giving birth. I reme…

Today I took my two younger kids up to the Children's Museum in Richmond for some good playtime outside of the house. Here are my reflections, in no particular order:
1. There are two kinds of children: reserved and precocious. Within those two types, there are two subsets: obedient and ill-mannered. At any one time, there are ill-mannered precocious children screaming. Sometimes they are my own.
2. Children love to create. In the sand, making music, with art. I think it's easy to grow up and…

A BAD thunderstorm rolled through last night and BLAM! Lighting hit close by. It was so loud it shook the house and my daughter starts screaming like crazy! I understand this because she HATES loud noises. Things take a funny twist when my wife and I arrive in her bedroom and she Yells "Jesus, why do you have to scare like this" and then right after that "Jesus, no more thunder!". Then she asked me to pray about the thunder. SO CUTE! (the thunder did stop, which was pretty cool) So the morning d…

We all know what scripture says about giving and tithing. But I learned a lesson yesterday that it is not always about giving money. For the last two months, I have found myself giving my business away. I know, pretty strange during times like these. But now that I think back, everytime…

For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more,. Jeremiah 31:34...says the Almighty Lord...able to erase the hordes...of offenses against Him...
He is the only One who can forgive and truly forget them. For there is no need for Him...to reference the memory of our past sin. Unlike mortal men...
who would fail to learn their lessons...
with out recollections...
of negative events and corrections...living with consequences...of ours and others offen…

Watching Barack Obama's inauguration on television reminded me of the year that my daughters and I stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Actually, Hollie and I stood on the steps as we watched Katie lie down in protest because she couldn’t take another step. I find it interesting that, at the place where my oldest daughter decided she was too tired to go on, another person now stood ready to take over.…

I was sitting here today, looking back at all the things that God Brought Me Through up till today! Have you ever done that? It is amazing the things that God does in your life, even the rough spots we walk through.
You see in 1999 I went from having a marriage, working for god in my ministry with the TV Show and helping others then I got hurt and ended up Homeless, marraigless, Great Pain and not knowing what Direction to walk next. Jesus was there with me, I had Him to direct my path.
God…
