Me: “Do you know who is Mitt Romney is?”
16 year-old: “Oh ya, isn’t he like some rock star….right?”
Wrong. Many teens today, as well as adults are extremely unprepared and uninterested in the upcoming primaries and elections. As a 24 year-old, I can honestly say that I did not become interested in politics until more recently and wish that my friends and I had been more involved from an early age. It is really important that parents help their teens and kids become more involved and informed u…

I need to publicly apologize to one member of the MyWorkButterfly.com community who wrote to tell me that she was deeply offended by my tribute to Michael Jackson and in honoring his legacy. If you feel similarly, then I truly apologize to you too. Was it weird that he had young boys sleep over? Hell yeah! Was it even more bizarre that they slept in his bed? Absolutely. But, we can not say, without a shadow of a doubt, that he was guilty of anything other than wanting to be loved. In fact, I fee…

Besides being a mom and a writer, I currently work for the federal government as a social scientist/researcher. Some days I wish I was a lab rat locked away from the rest of the team (really, it’s like doing your taxes in a room full of 12-year-old girls who are gushing about the latest bo…

Seriously folks. I have heard more about what the Obama's are wearing and drinking than about what their policies are. Is this the 'change america needs?' I personally could give a crap if he drinks and if Michelle Obama wears sleeves. Who cares? Don't answer that. I do care however what state of clean-up our economy is going to be in a couple years after the stimulus plan has been put into effect!
But I want to talk about something I am seriously upset about. There are 2 issues that come up ar…

Yesterday, I received an email alerting me that my kids would be encouraged to come to school early on January 20th to watch the Inauguration ceremony and to participate in "presidential" activities. There was a PS at the end

I don't know the results yet. It's 5:20 p.m. CT (I'm posting this the night before) and the results are just trickling in from the first polls. While I waited I clicked over to Momlogic to check out what they had to say and found this interesting question:…

After watching
SNL last night and catching Tina Fey's dead on performance of Sarah Palin, I got the chance to follow the ongoing Palin funfest with
this article in the NY Times.
If you're wondering where Sarah P. gets her trademarked $30 updo then look no further than the Beehive salon in Wasilla, Alaska. Okay folks, I swear - I am not making this up! I can't decide whether…

So I decided to be open minded and watch Sarah Palin's speech last night. And here is my take. She's a bulldog, she takes no prisoners, it's her way or the highway. And her youngest daughter will be babysitting her four month old.
I'm busy watching blogs and media coverage go back and forth over whether a mom of five young children can handle the 2nd toughest job in our country and still be there for her kids when they need her and here's what my girlfriends on the 8:48 responded this morning.…

I have to admit, I didn't know what to make of Michelle Obama. I've been hearing rumors that she's uptight, tough as nails and guarded. And then, last night, I wanted to see for myself what she was all about. And you know what? She's pretty damn impressive and seems pretty grounded too. Grew up on the South Side of Chicago, raised by a stay at home mom and her hard working dad who developed Multiple Sclerosis early in his life. Despite their modest beginnings, Michelle and her brother Brian atte…
