Last Wednesday, we were thrilled to interview Christy Turlington for our upcoming DVD. We went to her Tribeca loft and sat down for an intimate talk about her childbirth experiences and her advocacy work on behalf of maternal mortality. Christy is renowned internationally for her beauty, but when you meet her you realize it’s her inner light and spirit that makes her so captivating. Dressed in casual “mommy clothes” with scarcely a drop of makeup, she glows from within and seems completely in he…

Baby’s Birth Date: March 25, 2007
Birth Story: We gently welcomed our son into the world, at home, in the water, in the presence of our incredible midwives. It was the most awesome day of our lives. The birth was magical and wonderfully natural. Our son initiated the birthing process, without the need for intervention, and guided my body throughout the whole process. After his birth we all snuggled up together and went to rest, in the comfort of our own bed. I can’t imagine it any other way!

Baby’s Birth Date: 8/8/81, 3/2/83, 4/19/85, 4/13/86
Birth Story: All of my children were born at home! I started to look at midwifery and homebirths when my doctor almost aborted my daughter as a ‘growth’. My pg tests came back negative the first 3 months for all my pregnancies. The nurse who was helping me get ready for my DNC, said, “Let’s run some blood work, just to make sure.” Some how she knew that I was pregnant. She saved my daughters life. After that I realized, even the best OBGYN’s ca…

Well, that was some ride!! On the morning of June 28th, 2008, I awoke with the primal urge to get marital with my guy… (Weirdest urge ever!!) Then we cuddled for a while and I felt the urge to take a shower. I was having a few contractions, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. After the shower, my guy checked and massaged my cervix during contractions and I have to admit, it felt awesome. Looking back, I think it’s what helped me go so fast. He said he could feel the baby’s head pressing on my ce…
