I believe that a wife should be her husband’s biggest cheerleader ... especially when her children are present. Years ago, I remember one of my daughters complaining that Bill was working all the time. I was quick to remind her that it was her dad’s job that made it possible for me to stay home with them. Several years later, I am still waving pom-poms for my spouse. Like when Katie started to get after her dad for not hanging up his jacket.
“We need to tell Dad not to leave his coat lying around,” Katie announced.
“Do you know how many hours your Dad worked last week?” I asked. “It’s his busy season so what we need to do is to show Dad some mercy and hang it up for him.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Hollie asked as she walked into the room.
“Dad left his jacket lying on a chair,” Katie replied.
Before I could stop her, Hollie turned and yelled up the stairs, “Dad, you need to hang up your jacket!”
I tried, I thought to myself as I mentally dropped my pom-poms.
That’s all any of us are responsible for ... trying. Although many people worry as if the whole world were resting on their shoulders, it’s really on God’s. Our role is to do our best as God does the rest to shape His children's character, one cheerleading session at a time.
