Maybe I'm not getting all the facts on this story. A 13 year old boy discovers he has Lymphoma. Evidently there's an issue of treatment and it gets brought into the courtroom. The family opted for a holistic medical treatment based upon Native American healing practices called Nemenhah and rejected further treatment. "In a written statement issued last week, an attorney for the parents said they 'believe that the injection of chemotherapy into Danny Hauser amounts to an assault upon his body, and torture when it occurs over a long period of time'"
So the hospital brings in Social Services..........
I watched a movie lately called The Beautiful Truth. It was about a man named Max Gerson. This man did amazing things while on this earth in terms of balance and the human body. And it was hidden...he was ultimately killed for his idea when it was all said and done.
Trailer for the movie - http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/thebeautifultruth/

Please please watch this movie. Take the time to watch the trailer for it.
After watching the movie and exploring the website I believe that would be the course of action I would take and the action I would take for my family if they were to ever be struck by illness.
....So this mother has run off with her child because of her beliefs of a better way. The child is 13...he has an opinion and by the statement above "the family" opted for alternative treatment. At what point does the state...the government come in between our private lives and the choices we make. You may not think like I. You may depend fully on medical practices. Why should a judge tell me what is best for her son? Or my son for that matter. Her intentions were not to just let her son suffer...it was to try an alternative treatment not accepted by the population.
I pray this mother defies odds. I oh so hope she is doing in her heart what's right for her child and it works.
I'm so fed up with peoples ignorance because they think their way is better. Sometimes..just sometimes...someone else has a great idea that is unlike anyone else's and it works for them. The state government shouldn't intervene.
If it was the mother with lymphoma...she would have any option...she chooses the same for her child...they just might take him away from her. I'm baffled.
