I take pleasure in nominating for the "World of Kindness Day" my mother of 81 years old. Mother from my earlist memories has always given more to others than she has ever expected for herself. Within 2 city blocks a train which ran through our small town.."hobo's, begger's, people who had just lost their way in life would come - knock on our door and ask Momma' for a meal. Always Mom had something to give them, whether it was freshly made bisquits or soup of the day. Make no mind she was also raising 7 children on a small household budget. Mother gave clothes off her own back when she saw how little others had. Times where hard but she took to heart the words and values of her Lord God and served him with all she knew and had. Mom has gone through the experience of cervicle cancer, early juvenile alcoholism, childhood poverty in a family of 14 - 9 brothers and 5 sisters, survived the near loss through a vehicle/train collision her oldest daughter and subsequent loss of 5 other friends to this senseless accident. My Mother never wavered when my own siblings of 6 - 1 brother and 5 sisters would bring home friends throughout the years.....it has been hundreds. "She" would counsel them, laugh with us, cry with them, bandaged them, gave a bed when they ran away and then promptly the next morning followed them home, making sure all was well before she left. How loving and supportive she has always been regardless of her own circumstances. Whether she wins this "World of Kindness Day" or not... she has left an indelible legacy of sacrifice, love and graciousness that will always make me feel honored to have been her daughter.
