Ice, Baby, Ice -- Please go away

Day four. No power. Temps have been in the 17 to 25 range. Currently at 26. Woot! Woot! A high. Luckily I spent two days in the Chicago area speaking to a crowd of amazing ladies. I sat in my seat as the plane touched down in Tulsa last night, hoping that once I arrived home it would be warm and toasty. Ice-draped trees, bowing down as if to welcome our arrival, graced the drive into my city.

The pictures do not adequately show both the beauty of the ice, but also what communities from Oklahoma to Arkansas up to Kentucky are going through. Millions without electricity, warmth, or a hot shower.

So if you will, think of this fellow momlogic blogger and others who are typing away with wrinkled frosty fingers. Some of us run to WalMart to walk the aisle because it's warm and toasty, easily picking out the ones who have power and those who do not (grungy, no makeup, bundled up as if for a blizzard). Later you'll find me snuggling under layers and layers of covers, and hopefully at night we won't wear out the welcome of the more fortunate who have heat.

The ice storm has been an adventure, and it absolutely makes me appreciate the more comfortable aspects of life.
